FAST Class is the test prep class I teach for the Army. It covers the basic material needed for soldiers to increase their GT score, which is the score that determines what careers are open to them. The links on this page are the lectures I give when teaching the class.

Ratios

We use ratios to scale things up and down, and Proportions to divide things unevenly.

Measurements and Conversions

Here's how to know how to make conversions and do math when you have multiple units such as feet and inches.

Fractions

A lot of people have trouble with fractions. Much of that is because they don't have an intuitive grasp of what fractions are. Once you understand, they aren't that bad.

Decimals

here we convert fractions to decimals and work with factors of 10.

Percents

Percents are ratios with assigned seating. We can use all the tricks we learned with ratios, plus the 10 % method.

Geometry

Geometry is a big subject. This lesson only covers perimeter, area, and volume of rectangular and triangular shapes, plus circles and cylinders.

Test Taking Strategies

Having the knowledge is only part (OK most) of the battle. We can still fail if we psych ourselves out or use our time poorly. Here are some tips for avoiding that.
